We’ll have a conversation with you to assess your business’ food collection needs.
We’ll recruit and train a team of volunteers who will collect your surplus food on a regular basis.
The Food Waste Heroes will collect and safely redistribute your surplus food to their local community using the OLIO app.
Your surplus food ends up in bellies, not bins. This benefits the environment, helps build local communities and improves your employee engagement.
Got surplus food?
We’ll pick it up!
Fill out this food collection form and we’ll get back to you ASAP so your good food doesn’t go to waste! Or if you’re in need of regular collections instead of an ad hoc collection, please email us.
Here’s what we recently picked up
Q: What sort of food can OLIO rescue?
A: Any food which is still good to eat. 😊 We also take ALL food, from hot meals to fresh items to packaged goods.
Q: Does it matter how little or how much food I have?
A: No! If you have more surplus food than one Food Waste Hero can manage, we will arrange more than one Food Waste Hero for the collection, but usually we find that one Food Waste Hero is enough.
Q: What if I already have charitable collections in place? A: That is great that you are already supporting charities. We collect all food types, also food that charities are not able to collect. Through our OLIO food sharing app we also reach people that, for whatever reason, do not want to visit food banks (we take the social stigma out of sharing).
Q: Do the FWHs have any training? A: We’ve developed a robust and easy-to-apply Food Safety Management System (FSMS) that all Food Waste Heroes adhere to. It’s easy to use yet sophisticated enough to ensure all types of food are distributed in a safe way. Our FSMS, which we created with input from the FSA, is approved by our Primary Authority and based on a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points study. Here is an overview on how Food Safety is ensured by volunteers on OLIO.
Q: Is there any cost associated with the programme? A: We ask for a donation to enable you to become zero food waste and cover our costs.
Q: Where is this available? A: Currently our surplus food redistribution is available across the UK. Guidance on setting up the FWH programme in other markets available upon request.
