I thought OLIO was all about food sharing – why have you decided to allow non-food items?
We have decided to add a non-food section for two main reasons:

1) Because many of our early adopters hate food waste and, as such, don’t have much surplus food to share. However, they hate waste of all kinds and were starting to use OLIO to share non-food items. We therefore decided to create a separate section for this!

2) Because sharing of non-food items is likely to be much more appealing to the mainstream user. And if they use OLIO regularly for non-food, then when surplus food is available, OLIO will be top of mind 🙂

What does “OLIO” mean?
The definition of “OLIO” is “a miscellaneous collection of things”.

How are you making money?
OLIO generates revenues by charging businesses for the service we provide via our Food Waste Heroes Programme to enable them to have zero edible food waste stores. We will continue to explore other avenues to generate revenues to ensure that we have a sustainable business model.

How can I unsubscribe from your emails?
If you wish to unsubscribe from marketing communications from OLIO, you can do this yourself at the bottom of each email we send.

Where else can I share surplus food?
Community Fridges are popping up all over the UK. They are communal places where surplus food is shared between people in a community, by local businesses and individuals. See if there is one near you – click here.

My account has been suspended, what does this mean?
If your account has been suspended, this means that for the duration of the suspension (this is usually 30 days, but can be shorter or longer) you will no longer be able to add or request listings via the app. You will however still be able to continue messaging with users that you are in the process of sharing with, and if you have any pickups arranged, you will be expected to complete those.

How can I delete my OLIO account?
If you wish to delete your OLIO account, please go to the ‘My OLIO’ section in the app, select ‘Account’ and scroll to the bottom of the page and select ‘Delete my account’.
