What is a Squad Captain?
Squad Captains are the leaders of a team of Food Waste Heroes. They are the main point of contact between the Squad members (i.e. Food Waste Heroes), and OLIO, and help to oversee the Squad’s day-to-day activities.
OLIO has hundreds of Food Waste Hero squads who are led by Squad Captains in order to ensure that collections are running smoothly. Squad Captains play an essential role in leading the teams and keeping them well organised and reliable.
As a Squad Captain, you’ll have the opportunity to learn invaluable team management skills, will receive a special Squad Captain badge on your profile, and can even claim an additional collection slot as a bonus!
How to become a Squad Captain
All Squad Captains must first be registered as Food Waste Heroes.
Once you are registered as a Food Waste Hero, there are different routes you can take depending on whether or not you are already part of a squad.
Follow the steps below:
If you are already part of a Food Waste Hero squad that does not yet have a Squad Captain:

If you are not yet part of a Food Waste Hero squad:
Claim a collection slot at a business near you! Click here to see which slots we have available.
If there are no collection slots available, you first need to sign on a new business to OLIO as a Squad Starter, so a new Food Waste Hero squad can be set up for you to lead!
